Warm With You

Recently I was listening to a podcast on relationships, which I do often since I coach people in this area. It doesn't matter what kind of relationship it is; romantic, parent or child, work related, or relationships within an organization (such as a church), we're destined to always be in one, one way or another. So unless we head off into the wilderness alone as they do in the series Alone, relationships will be a big part of our lives making it important to have and maintain healthy ones. What each of us want in a relationship is different for everyone, however, there's a few things that should be present in every relationship such as; empathy, dependability, trust, and reciprocity. This particular podcast added one more thing to this list and after thinking it through, I feel like this is the key ingredient! They were talking about what to look for in a person as your deciding on whether to let them into your life or keep them in your life, and what they felt was most important is warmth.

I loved this, and although this can be useful in every relationship in our life, this podcast was specifically talking about the importance of finding warmth in a romantic partner. Someone you want to cuddle up with. Someone who makes you feel calm and comfortable and makes you smile when you think about them. Someone who embraces you when they see you and gives you the longest, warmest hug. Someone who has been through some hard times, but is still lighthearted and knows how to make the most of life. Someone who cares about what your going through and keeps their word. Someone who sees you and wants to know everything about you. Someone you feel like you've known your whole life, even though you just met.

As I said, everyone has an idea of who this warm person will be for them. I think of it similar to wrapping  up in your favorite blanket, putting on your cozy socks, reading a good book in your comfy chair, or the glow of a winter scented candle. Either way it's someone who just wants to get Warm With You...
